Tree Blocking River Nith

We've had reports that there is a new tree just after the last drop on the gorge section of the River Nith which could be difficult to avoid.

There is a breakout on river left just after the drop and above the tree. There is then a sneak line on the right hand side of the tree next to the rock wall, but it is small.  Intermediates may have a problem making the breakout and would be likely to end up on the tree so be careful.

Sounds like it doesn't need a chain saw so if anyone fancies taking a bow saw on the their next trip that would probably sort the problem.

Nith Is clear of trees for now

The tree that was in the Nith gorge has been cleared.

We ran the whole section and it is now clear.

I don't know who cleared it. Maybe K.Shark.

Tree clearing

I kayak a lot in the Chesapeake Bay here in Maryland, and there are always trees that fall into the creeks which dump into the bay. Often, people have to bring their own chainsaws, but after an accident last fall, we're all trying to find a local Washington DC tree service company that will wok o spec. We're hoping we can show them the excitement that comes with white water rafting so that they'll be interested in clearing them from the creeks for free!
