River Roy (lower) - Trees

Paddled lower Roy today.  Few new trees have fallen into the river after the wild windy weather.  All avoidable but be careful as it's not always clear how far they extend until you 

River Meig (lower) - New Gauge

According to reports, the old calibrated gauge has been replaced on the lower meig with a new gauge, just at the put in below the dam.  Handily, the new numbers are different so 4 is

River Kiachnish - Trees

Couple of recent trips down the Kiachnish have reported issues with trees with one in particular causing problems and a pretty definite portage - quotes and information below: 

Tree Blocking River Nith

We've had reports that there is a new tree just after the last drop on the gorge section of the River Nith which could be difficult to avoid.

There is a breakout on river left just after the drop and above the tree. There is then a sneak line on the right hand side of the tree next to the rock wall, but it is small.  Intermediates may have a problem making the breakout and would be likely to end up on the tree so be careful. 

Lower Gloy - Trees

As of 12th Aug 2008 there are a number of awkward trees in the Lower Gloy.  So take care and a saw next time you go!

Wash Your Kit

Gyrodactylus Salaris

 

Paddlers travelling to Europe should be aware of a serious fish disease - Gyrodactylus salaris (Gs) that could have severe consequences if it was brought back into the UK.  It is a water bourne disease and so can potentially be brought back in wet kit, water in boats etc.
