I am looking for some general information on boating in Northern Scotland in June. I will be based out of Aberdeen for work for the month of June and would love to get on some UK rivers! I just found this site and forum and would really appreciate any input. I would bring just my paddle, so info on gear demo/rentals and/or hooking up with folks to paddle with would be awesome! I live in Idaho and paddle generally Class IV.
Thanks!
Jaime
Boating near Aberdeen

Best thing to do is get yourself a copy of the Scottish White Water Guidebook (2nd Edition). That'll point you in the right direction for good rivers all over Scotland. There's a reasonable selection just west of Aberdeen - Banchory / Ballater way. Although many need good rain to come up. Further afield are popular runs like the North Esk, Blackwater and Findhorn with various sections including good Gd4 and paddable when a bit lower. Aberdeen Kayak Club would be a good place to start to find some folk to paddle with and ask about kit hire.
