Hi Neil, The wave does indeed look good - was genuinely quite surprised when I saw the picture!
I heard that they're doing maintenance on the awe dam this summer and were going to be releasing on full whenever it rains - do you reckon thats still the case & does that give enough water for the wave to be workin?
Was out again last night - They seem to be releasing a good bit more water than usual whenever it rains-though the amount varies - it needs to be giving it big licks out of both sides of the barrage for the wave to be really good.
The best judge is the wall that splits the two sides of the barrage (as you look up at it):
Completely covered - the wave will be in and the whole run will be a quick boily blast.
Water running along it - The wave is pretty small but the run is good - the graveyard is nice a G3 boulderfield.
Wall exposed and lower - the run gets increasingly boney but its still always runnable with some good beginners features.
I'll try and get some more evidence of the ellusive wave.
I reckon what we need is an Awe Webcam pointing at the barrage... anyone fancy sponsoring it / setting it up?
And no... its not 'just' to save me driving down from the Fort to try this wave only to find the river low. There is at least one other person I can think of that would use it as well...
The wave in question is at the bottom (river) left of the graveyard. It only works with a good release - though too much water and it washes out. At normal / low levels the barrage wave / hole is reliably there.
If anyone fancys a project -I reckon the awe barrage wave has fantastic potential to be rebuilt to form some kind of wave / hole feature.

August 14, 2008 - 08:39 — BruceLeeI'm gonna have to go and check this bad boy out some day very soon.....Afterall is there really anything better than a good wave?
When "The Internet 2" comes out surely we'll have the ability to watch everything on the planet from the comfort of our living rooms?
Webcam coverage for rivers would be so cool. It would save so many of those "tours of Scotland" to find water....you know the ones!
Awe Wave
November 5, 2008 - 05:04 — George McmillanIt was my thoughts that when the wave is running that it's actually only at normal levels.
Any time I've arrived at a time when the Dam was releasing the wave washes out but makes the trip downstream pushier.
